FAQ
Host FAQs
How do I list my buoy?
Download the app, create a free account, tap List Your Buoy in your profile, and you're ready to go. Update pricing, details, and photos anytime.
When will I get paid?
Payments are made weekly via your preferred digital payout method.
How much of my rate do I keep?
You keep 100% of your set rate. Moorbuoys adds a small service fee on top, paid by the renter, so there's no cost to you.
Do I need to respond to reservation requests?
No. Bookings are instant and automatically synced with your buoy's availability calendar.
How much can I earn?
We recommend a daily rate between $30–$40. Year-round availability and holiday/long-term pricing can help maximize earnings.
Can I adjust pricing for holidays and peak season?
Yes — you're in full control and can update your rates anytime in the app.
Do I need a bank account or credit card to create an account?
No — just your name, phone, and email are required.
Can I block days or limit my buoy's availability?
Yes — use the calendar block-out tool to mark dates your buoy isn't available. Renters only see open dates.
What if a renter doesn't leave after their reservation?
Renters must provide identifying personal and boat information prior to booking. Any overstaying is a contract violation, and authorities can address the situation.
Will I attract derelict vessels by listing my buoy?
Keeping your buoy active and rented regularly deters derelict vessels. GPS locations remain private until verified payment is made.
What is my liability as a buoy owner?
You're responsible for keeping your buoy in safe, working condition. You are not liable for severe weather or improper use beyond your control, as long as your buoy was properly maintained.
Boater FAQs
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel up to 72 hours before check-in and receive a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours of your stay are unfortunately non-refundable.
What if someone's on my buoy or there's an issue?
Report an issue starting 30 minutes before your reservation. If the buoy is unavailable, mark it in the app for a full refund.
Can I contact the host?
Host contact details are private. You can request assistance from Moorbuoys support if needed.
Why can't I reserve State Park buoys?
State Park buoys operate first-come, first-served. Moorbuoys provides key details, but reservations aren't available for these buoys.
What is my liability as a renter?
Mooring involves risks. Renters use buoys at their own risk, including weather, tides, currents, or vessel issues.
Why is the maximum vessel length 45 ft?
This limit provides a safety margin for winds, tides, and currents, and aligns with State Park rules.
How long can I stay?
Book a buoy up to 30 consecutive days. Reservations on the same buoy are limited to 30 days within a 40-day period. Contact support for longer stays.
When is check-in and check-out?
You choose arrival and departure times. Stay for a few hours or up to 28 days — whatever fits your trip.
How do I find the right buoy?
Trip details include buoy ID, GPS location, and other key info. If you can't locate it, use Report an Issue in the app for a refund.
